Shannon became a counselor because she believes people can change and have the capacity to heal from difficulties in life. She feels counseling should be a place where people can talk about whatever is happening in their life without shame or judgment.
She is passionate about working with people struggling with addiction, trauma, depression, and anxiety.

Shannon received her bachelor’s degree in linguistics from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2010. She then received her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary in 2014. Shannon currently serves as a recovery court therapist/trainer at National Institute for Change, specializing in the use of EMDR techniques in therapy, as well as working in private practice for Aspire Counseling Denver.

CREDENTIALS

Shannon Unger is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in the state of Colorado. She received her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary.

Shannon received her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary.

Shannon is certified in MRT (Moral Reconation Therapy) and also have training in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy).

Shannon is a Level II EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist and received her training through Awake Mind.
